Dr. Martin, a specialist in cataract and laser vision correction, has been on the forefront of major advances in the area of vision correction over the past 25 years. He is the Medical Director and Chief Surgeon for OptiVue. Prior to this position, he was the Director of the Cleveland Eye Clinic for four years. He performed his internship at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and his residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Martin attended Medical School at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
Dr. Martin served as a staff member and Assistant Professor at University of Toledo Medical Center for over 25 years. He has also taught at medical universities around the world and across the United States. Dr. Martin is one of few eye surgeons in Ohio who are board certified in both cataract surgery and laser vision correction by the American Board of Eye Surgery and is a patent holder in intraocular lens technology.
Dr. Martin is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Eye Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Intraocular Lens Implant Society, the American College of Surgeons, the Ohio Ophthalmologic Society and the Toledo Academy of Medicine. Dr. Martin believes that sight is one of our most precious gifts. He has spent his entire career trying to preserve and improve vision by offering the most advanced surgical techniques and using state of the art equipment.
Dr. Bzdafka is a doctorate graduate of The Southern College of Optometry, with a residency at Cleveland VAMC. She has experience in ocular disease, adult and pediatric primary care, therapeutic contact lens care and low vision. Dr. Bzdafka holds an optometric license from the State of Ohio.
Dr. Gilbuena earned his BS in Biology at Oregon State University and his OD at Pacific University College of Optometry. He completed optometry internships all over the country including Oregon, Alaska, Kentucky, and Arizona.
He spent 2 years as a primary care optometrist in Oregon, and comes to OptiVue with special training in OCT, and fundus, anterior segment, and high plus photography. Dr. Gilbuena has several professional affiliations including the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association.
Outside of the office, Dr. Gilbuena enjoys geocaching, photography, and watching baseball with his growing family.
Dr. Jodi Kessinger received her Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1995, where she also participated in humanitarian eye care mission trips to underserved regions of Central America. After graduating, Dr Kessinger was a clinical instructor at OSU Primary Vision Care Clinic before moving with her family to Toledo to join Optivue. Here, she has served in the role of Director of Optometrists and Preceptor for Optometric Interns. Dr Kessinger enjoys all aspects of primary care optometry, including glaucoma, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, and pediatrics, as well as pre-operative and post-operative care of our cataract and LASIK surgery patients.
In her spare time, Dr Kessinger enjoys reading, sewing, biking, spending time with her husband and keeping up with her three children, two cats, and one dog.
Dr. Lin graduated and obtained his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and spent his ophthalmology residency at the Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia.
Dr. Lin completed his fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastics with Thomas C. Spoor at St. John Health System in Michigan.
Dr. Lin is a Diplomat and Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has subspecialty interests in the areas of neuro-opthalmology and oculoplastics, including various eyelid abnormalities, complex dry eyes, eye muscle deviations, orbital processes, and cosmetic facial rejuvenation.
Dr. Lin holds a medical license from the States of Ohio and Michigan and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
Dr. Leighan Monroe is a 2006 graduate of the University of Missouri, St. Louis. She enjoys all facets of the profession of optometry and spends the majority of her time in primary care optometry, post-operative care, and the treatment and management of ocular diseases. Dr. Monroe holds her license in the State of Ohio.
